How can an end product control a metabolic pathway?

What does Allosteric Regulation have to do with this? How can an end product control a metabolic pathway?
Allosteric regulation is when another molecule, called a ligand in this context, has an effect on the activity of an enzyme.

The final product of a metabolic pathway can act as a ligand that inhibits an enzyme early on in the process, this will slow down, or even reverse the metabolic pathway.
